Creative Egremont Blog
A blog about Creative Egremont and related stuff: a year-long programme of public art with a difference, in Egremont in West Cumbria.
Folk Float is launched
We’re thrilled to have launched public works’ commission, the ‘Folk Float’ - this weekend in Egremont. Here’s Outreach Officer George Rea setting up this unique mobile museum on the Orgill Estate yesterday. Donations from the public included a boxing trophy, tatoos and a prize-winning lurcher!

New faces!
A warm welcome to George Rea (pictured left) and Catherine Sadler (right) who join Creative Egremont as our Folk Float outreach officers. They’ll be staffing our new mobile museum as it travels about locally. See www.folkfloat.org for more!

A Folk Float is born!
Thanks to 4met fabricators in Cambridgeshire, a lowly 2nd hand milkfloat is emerging as the new Egremont Folk Float - a mobile museum collecting and displaying local memorabilia later this summer.
As you can see from this workshop pic, we have a way to go till it’s finished but it’s looking pretty exciting anyway!

NEW RECORDING STUDIO
After the recent success of EGREMONT FM it was decided to turn the radio station into a recording studio. Meetings are being held between Young Cumbria, Sound Wave and a group of enthusiastic local volunteers. If you are interested in helping in any way, have an interest in using the studio, in a band, choir, writer, story teller or singer then please get in touch. This will be a community venture open to all ages.
