Egremont FM Feeds

What is a feed?

Feeds (also known as RSS feeds) are an easy way for you to be alerted when new content that interests you appears on websites of your choice.

Using either a separate feed reader or an online version that you can access through your web browser, you can be notified every time a new programme is posted to the site.

What do I need to use RSS?

There are two ways to use the Egremont FM RSS feed. The first is to use a special news reader that will display a message every time a new programme is added to our site, and which will give you a link back to the site where you can download the programme. The other is to use an audio-based reader (or 'podcatcher') which will directly download audio files of any new programmes as they are posted. For either of these methods, click on the rss logo button, and then choose the reader you use from the list of available options. (If your reader does not show up on the list choose USM or Universal Subscription Mechanism.)

The latest versions of internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari) have a built-in reader which means you don't need to install another reader. Otherwise these come as standalone programmes - try the free NetNewsWire Lite for Macintosh (look for the free Lite version) or FeedReader for Windows. Alternatively, the personalised home-pages such as Google Home or My MSN can display your selected feeds - useful if you rely on a shared computer.

You can also subscribe to our feed via iTunes. You will then have the programmes download directly into your itunes and you can choose which ones you'd like to listen to whenever suits you. (If your computer doesn't already have iTunes installed, the itunes logo button will give you the chance to get a copy. iTunes is the most popular 'podcatcher' by far and it is free. iTunes is available for both PCs (running Windows 2000 or XP) and Macs (running Mac OS X 10.2.8 or higher).)
